  • SDSSL is awarded an AFOSR grant (2015-2018) titled “Integrated Multi-field Resonant Metamaterials for Extreme, Low Frequency Damping” in collaboration with the Vibration and Wave Propagation Lab (in AE, led by Dr. Ruzzene) and the Laboratory of Composite Materials and Adaptive Structures (in ETH Zurich, led by Drs. Ermanni and Bergamini) (total award: $848,740; total award to GT: $563,365).
  • SSDSL is awarded an NSF grant (2015-2018) titled “Generating Electricity from Deformation: Multiscale Modeling and Characterization of Flexoelectricity from Atoms to Devices” (total award to GT: $377,829). This is a collaborative project with the University of Houston (total award to UH: $154,355).
  • SSDSL article (written in collaboration with the University of Houston team) becomes the inaugural recipient of the ASME Energy Harvesting Best Paper Award (announced in the EHTC Spring 2015 meeting – to be awarded in ASME SMASIS 2015).
